Solivus® is excited to announce that their unique solar fabric an ultra-lightweight Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) manufactured by Heliatek has won a Global Innovation Award.
Our partner, Heliatek who supplies the solar fabric won the 2020 Global Innovation Award created by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and the online video platform GloballyGreat. The award honours ground-breaking projects, and outstanding sustainable innovations that could be applied in the Middle East.
Companies who had the opportunity to apply for the award on the innovative video platform focused on sustainability launched by GloballyGreat. Heliatek won the award against strong competitors for their organic solar films that are also used by Solivus®. The fabric is unique as it transforms virtually any building into a clean energy generator including the commercial industry which previously could not use traditional solar panels due to their weight.
The award was handed over to Guido van Tartwijk (Heliatek CEO) during Abu Dhabi Sustainable Week 2020, who said during the ceremony: “We are deeply honoured to win the Global Innovation Award 2020 initiated by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. With Heliatek’s innovative organic solar films we provide a perfect solution to energise buildings with a clean energy generation technology. This will help to achieve the UAE 2021 vision of sustainable environment and infrastructure. “
